Fort Lauderdale Open 2008 Repeat Champs!

The Ft. Lauderdale Open was another BIG success. Not only did Kim and I win, but the tournament itself was run very smoothly and the competition was great. Kim and I hadn't played or trained a whole lot because she took a vacation to Costa Rica (lucky girl) and the weather on the west coast has been sketchy. But, we played consistent and aggressive throughout the day and were able to beat every team we played in two games.

I was pretty satisfied with my play for the day. I feel like I am definitely improving in my defense which was a major goal of mine for the year. I also serve received much better than in Hollywood with the same windy conditions, so it was good to have that back. :-)

Kim and I were pretty beat by the end of the day, but we hung in for a few hours after cleaning up. We ate some really AMAZING pizza and hit the town for a bit with Morgs (Player Morgan Flarity). The three of us had a very memorable time striking poses in a $5 photo booth, then the day caught up with us and we called it a night.

I'm looking forward to a few weeks of practice to continue to improve as a team and individually. I can already see a difference in my game and that is so exciting!! Next stop... EEVB Delray, if we really want to take the 4 hour trek again or maybe the Jacksonville EVP event as it is my old college stomping grounds. Stay tuned...
